Spring Truly is in the Air

It is 55 degrees and gorgeous outside on this late February morning! We could not be more excited about sharing with you the dates of our Spring Open House.

After a fabulously successful Christmas season Donna & Deb spent countless hours at the Atlanta Accessory and Gift Show in January scouring the showrooms for unique products and fun display pieces.

Now we’re swimming in bubble, Styrofoam, and cardboard unpacking our goods like children on Christmas! The empty nooks and crannies in the store are filling up once again, and we’re just about ready to share with you our labor of love.

Please join us Thursday, March 8th through Saturday, March 10th anytime between 11am and 4pm to celebrate. We’ll be serving up plenty of delicious goodies.

If you aren’t signed up to receive our snail mail postcard feel free to shoot me an e-mail at stonewoodemmaus@aol.com

Showhouse Rendering

Every single design project we do takes on a life of its own. Inevitably the initial spread of textiles, colors, furniture and other interior elements morphs over time into something slightly different or even sometimes worlds different from the original.

However, the collaboration of multiple designers and a close partnership with our clients yields the look of effortless design that can only be achieved through rigorous critiquing.

In light of the process, we thought we’d share with you the initial rendering proposed for the 2012 SOTA Designer Showhouse.

I will let you in on a little secret though…things have changed a bit!

You’ll definitely have to check back here often for more updates…

A “Note” Worthy Mantle

The Allentown Symphony Association invited Stonewood Interiors to decorate the mantle for their 62nd Annual Symphony Ball, and of course, we said “yes!”

The theme for The Ball was “Love Notes.” After gathering all the ideas and inspiration we could conjure up, we decided to start with an arched mirror framed with open panes.

The panes were filled with sheets of music and the arch was adorned with magnolias. We then casually propped a violin and bow against against the mirror. A few more magnolias were placed on the mantle itself amongst clear frames with floating images denoting love. Two, gorgeous buffet lamps flanked each side for ambiance and a single gold frame for one of the images was used to break up the symmetry.

The final touches that “made” the entire vignette were old photographs of couples from Donna’s family and her grandparents’ old love letters tucked amongst the panes and mirror.

And there you have it, the method to our mantle-decorating madness.

Sneak Peek- 2012 SOTA Showhouse

It seems like just yesterday that we did the 2010 Society of the Arts Designer Showhouse on North 28th Street in Allentown.

If you missed it you can check out our Guest Retreat here.

Our design married the traditional style of the home and existing furniture with more contemporary elements like our papaya and gray color palette.

Anyway, fast-forward to the present and we’re putting the finishing touches on yet another Showhouse room design. We can’t wait ’til you see it!

This years house is located at Three Chimneys Farm in Coopersburg, PA. It’s a beautiful Victorian farmhouse built in the 1870s by Zeno Weierbach. Period details abound both inside and out including this gingerbread detailing on the front porch.

The Showhouse will be open April 28th through May 20th. Tickets go on sale in April and certainly can be purchased right at Stonewood Interiors!

Check back for more updates and details. You can also visit the Facebook page here.

I you were a design student…?

…What would you want to learn?

In the past, Stonewood Interiors has hosted a number of design seminars. When we were located on the triangle in a true retail space we had ample room to set up rows upon rows of chairs. Anyone and everyone from the Lehigh Valley and beyond was  invited to take a seat and join us. We covered a whole gamut of topics including mantel decorating and entertaining with ease.

Since moving the store to this beautiful, old Victorian we’ve been faced with the challenge of having a more chopped-up space. Our lecture-type seminars have been phased out in favor of open houses.

However, this year we’re looking to get back to hosting one or two seminars. Maybe we’ll simply limit the number of attendees or rearrange a bunch of furniture. Whatever the solution, we’re going to make it happen!

But we could use your help. What would you be interested in learning a thing or two about? How to accessorize a bookcase? How to properly light a room for form and function? You tell us!

X-traordinary Window Treatment

This treatment exemplifies x-actly what we love to do here at Stonewood Interiors. Simply elegant window treatments.

Nothing over the top…

Just a tufted cornice over a trimmed mock Roman shade.

Each “X” is finished with a centered stud that ties in with the tile detail below.
